Emal has announced it is on a major recruitment drive, seeking skilled UAE professionals to work at its new aluminium smelter based in Taweelah, Abu Dhabi.

The move from the JV between Dubai Aluminium Company Limited and Mubadala, is part of a wider scheme to help developer technical careers for locals and support the economy.

Exhibiting at the "Careers UAE 2011" expo to be held in Dubai from March 21 to 23, the organisation is seeking qualified individuals in the fields of mechanical, electrical and chemical engineering and maintenance – all needed for the highly skilled technical work.

“We want to recruit the next generation of talent to ensure a successful future for both Emal and our country’s Emiratisation and diversification efforts,” said Emal president and CEO, Saeed Fadhel Al Mazrooei.

“Our team is ready to inform and inspire potential Emirati engineers, technicians and craftsmen about the exciting career opportunities open to them at Emal.”

Providing employment for Emiratis is a strategic objective for the UAE’s biggest non-oil and gas industrial diversification project and a central feature of the UAE’s 2030 vision.

The smelter, located half way between Abu Dhabi city and Dubai, is currently producing 750,000 tonnes of aluminium for 82 customers in 19 countries, with the aim of doubling output when phase two of the smelter goes operational.

Careers UAE is a key opportunity for Emal to get in touch with qualified candidates, and follows a similar successful employment drive in January at Tawdheef 2011.

Al Mazrooei added: “Career fairs are one of the main avenues for recruiting Emiratis. Emal has recruited 120 Emiratis in the past two years through such fairs and we want to extend this record of success.”
